2.2 K2 folding teardrop camper prototype demo

When developing this folding teardrop camper prototype, I shot a quick phone video to show a friend how the fold/unfold action worked. I was handling this carefully because the plastic was held to the sides with thumbtacks and it wasn’t hard to pull through the material or pop a tack.

Self-opening pop up teardrop camper

One of the advantages of the hard sided camper is that you can use devices like gas lid shocks to help with the opening process. My original vision was to make this work so that lightly lifting one panel would cause a knock-on effect, raising that panel and triggering the other side to come up.

It’s an idea that kinda works in this prototype. The self-raising action is not as quick as I’d like. But at the least, I know it can be done and that there’s a better way to do it.
